We have a foreign client who has a potential order for electronic
timers that can control the POWER-ON and POWER-OFF of window
type air-conditioners.
The objective is to save on electricity and energy costs.
Problem:
The country is suffering from a series of brown-outs and the
government is concerned about conserving energy. The situation
is getting so bad, that the administration is forced to initiate
rotating brownouts in all the cities on a scheduled basis.
Objective:
The government wants an energy-saving device that can effectively
control the power consumption of air-conditioners in all government
offices.
Basically, it wants all air-conditioners powered on at 10:00
AM and shut down at exactly 5:00PM, from Monday to Friday.
The design:
We have designed a prototype that :
1. Starts the air-conditioner at a specific time
2. Stops the air-conditioner at a specific time
3. Directly connects the air-conditioner to the main power
line without the use of AC power plugs or connectors
4. Discourages government office employees from removing the
timer mechanism and bypassing it.
5. Cannot be programmed without the detachable keypad
6. Has a rechargeable battery back-up to protect the timer
settings in cases of brownouts.
7. The prototype is fully tested can be mass-produced upon
an order.
8. Has a triple level surge protection circuit to protect
the device from spikes and sags caused by rotating brownouts.
